I’ve been at Hope Academy since 2019. Hope Academy is a non-denominational Christian school. I've learned lessons in life outside of school of course, but at Hope I've learned some of the most important lessons of all. One of the lessons I've learned is how to become a leader. Also, my work ethic has improved. I used to get in a lot of trouble before attending Hope Academy. Coming to Hope has taught me that the road to success is being yourself and showing people who you are as a person. I used to be so worried about fitting in with the cool kids, that I used to block myself from being me. Everybody thought that I was cool because I got good grades and I used to fit in with the cool kids, but I was dying inside. I wasn't being myself with these people and Hope helped me become my true self. When I get to high school, I will continue to take these leadership skills to high school with me. I will continue to take my good grades to highschool. I will continue to take me to high school. I haven't always made good grades, but they get better and better every day. Now in the 8th grade, I am in a leadership position in the student council. I help around the school and make good decisions for Hope. One of the missions I've been on is seeing how I could help students get to know each other better to make our school a community. I hope to make my future high school an excellent community as well.

Soon after I began attending Hope Academy, a sports program began when I was in 5th grade. I was one of the youngest kids on my team. Since I began playing sports in 5th grade, I have been appointed team captain every year by the school’s head coach. I have been a captain of the cross country, flag football, volleyball, soccer, and basketball teams. Through being a captain, I have learned how to be a leader. Being a captain of a sports team is not easy. It can be challenging to have to learn how to slow down and be patient, but it has taught me how to be a kinder and more compassionate teammate. When we lose games, I try to keep a cool head and a positive attitude. From playing sports with Hope I have learned to never give up even if you are having a hard time. My 8th grade year my cross country team won every race. But my favorite sport was basketball. We had some tough games but we never gave up. Even though we lost some games we still keep our heads up. Everything I have learned from being the captain of a sports team I will take with me to high school. Perseverance, teamwork, and a positive attitude are all important in the classroom.

This year, I have been involved in a robotics club. In the robotics club, I’ve built robots that can sense a difference in light and are aware of their surroundings. I have recently built a robot that is able to walk by itself. I have learned many things from the robotics club such as programming, teamwork, and leadership over my peers. As a leader in robotics, I've learned how to work well with others and work on my own. Outside of school I like to build different lego designs. I’ve recently found an interest in building lego cars, but I’ve always been interested in building all types of lego designs. In high school I am interested in taking more advanced classes in engineering and design. I am very interested in learning how to build new creations. I enjoy building new designs with legos because they can tell a story. Different brands and types of legos can be used to tell stories about the building process. I can use my imagination to create my own designs using spare pieces from lego sets. One of my favorite designs I have created have been two miniature motorcycles because I appreciated the aesthetics. Building lego designs can be challenging because you have to learn how to make a design look appealing and functional.
