Meet our New Staff

My name is Shawntina Dennis and I have been part of the Hope Academy family since 2015. My son Justice Dennis graduated from Hope in 2019 and my daughter Jasmine graduated in 2020. My family and I are from Asheboro, NC and have been living in Greensboro since 2010. I first found out about Hope Academy in the summer of 2014. Mrs. Suzanne, a former teacher at Hope, came walking by my house one afternoon with a group of Hope Academy students that were passing out Hope Academy brochures and popsicles. Mrs. Suzanne asked if I had any middle school aged children because the school is enrolling 5th-8th grade. I read the brochure and was amazed at what the school had accomplished and the path that the school was on with helping students in the neighborhood. Hope Academy is a better option for middle school than the middle school for this district. So the following week I enrolled my son into Hope Academy. Since then, all of my children have attended Hope Academy. I just give praise to God for placing Hope Academy in our lives.

— Shawntina Dennis, Office Administrator

I have been a part of the Hope Academy Family for about 5 1/2 years now! I started as a volunteer with the after school tutoring program as an undergraduate at UNCG, my communication in the community class required me to fulfill a certain number of volunteering hours with a local Greensboro Nonprofit organization. So I chose Hope. I volunteered for the semester it took to complete my class and I never left. The bond that I built with the students was so endearing I knew I had to continue on. I loved the mission of Hope Academy and I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of long term.

I Joined the hope academy team full time after graduating in 2020 with my dual degree in Communications Studies as well as Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies. I started at Hope as the Main Office Administrator and I have just recently been promoted into a new role as the Admissions and Volunteer Coordinator here at Hope Academy GSO! So I'm helping to get new students enrolled here at hope and I'm connecting with churches and individuals to come be a part of the mission here at Hope.

I am so thankful that God has placed me here to support a school whose mission is to educate, encourage and equip students to transform their futures. please stop by and say hi, visit us here at hope. get your foot in the door and get connected with

all of the amazing things God is doing here!

My name is Heather Gray and I am a North Carolina native. I grew up in Goldsboro, North Carolina and I am a graduate of East Carolina University. My background is in special education, marketing, and financial services.

I joined the Hope Academy GSO staff at the end of January 2022. I actually found out about Hope via a divine Google search while looking for volunteer opportunities in the area! Little did I know that God had this wonderful journey in store for me.

I love being able to plan and work with my team and the students to tell the story of what God is doing here at Hope Academy GSO. I greatly enjoy hearing stories from donors who have made this school possible! When you visit campus, please stop by my office and say hello! I can’t wait to meet you!
